Hi Peeps.
I've finally ordered my Leon Cupra R 225T... but need to convert it to four wheel drive, and wondered if it's possible?
Basically... i'm trying to get the most BHP from the 1.8T engine but I think 300BHP to the front wheels would be idiotic! :)
The Leon Cupra 4 use V6 engines, but have a 4WD system... so it's probably not that hard to convert the Cupra R!
Whilst the 0-60 time is important... i'de rather have more mid-range whack... so lots of torque is needed! :D
Anyone got any idea's?
Cheers. ::Hello::
alright mate, 300 bhp from that lump is definately possible with the right mods. Aint sure bout the 4 wheel drive system!!!
I think the V6 engine is gonna be well different to your set up. Also, the biggest problem you will have is runnin the prop down to the back of the car! my mate, (guppy) wanted to convert his front wheel drive modeo into a cossie lumped one with either rear wheel or 4 wheel drive. The cost would have bin 11K as the floor needs a wackin great channel runnin down the length of the car for the prop.
I think a conversion such as this is too expensive and would loose you power as it chan nels to the arse end. (2 wheel drive cossies are more power full than the 4x4 cause less losses on drive train)
i recon 300bhp would be ok with a fancy quaife dif or traction control (which you may already have?).
As for mid range wack cams would help as will most the usuall mods like zorst, filter, etc that you will need anyway to get the 300 bhp. And you'll propably have plenty of mid range anyway when the turbo kicks in! Nos might be an option too, sudden blast of power when u want it!!!
happy moddin!

Cheers for the quick reply m8.
I wonder what 300BHP would give me in terms of 0-60 times? Drool! :D
I am looking at the Quaife system, but I need to make sure it'll work with my APR DirectPort unit. I love modding the ECU while your driving!!! :p
It'll never be out of race mode!!!! :D
If 300BHP will be OK through the front wheels... i'll stick with it! I'm guessing it's going to guzzle petrol though! :(

maybe some sort of lsd and traction control which i suspect it allredy has is the best bet also if it has traction control 4wd converstion would be difficult as the programming iss run through the ecu and it would on do the front end so there would be lots of uncontroled side ways action.

check out the cupra r forum they will tell you whats likely and not and what best way to do it think i already put the info up ages ago when you asked which car
i drove jabbasports seat when i took my a3 2 have it remaped 315bhp at the front wheels (350@flywheel) it runs a modified s3 managment with traction control it has ihi roller turbo and charge cooler. ive been in modded cossies n scoobies but this thing was in another leauge. the tracton control system holds the power really well theres no tourqe steer or wheel spining it just mashes u into the seat 7.5k rpm limit 2. as for 4wd i got it on my a3 but should of had a 2wd it better off the line and in the wet but after 60 the 4wd seriously sapps the power a 240bhp 2wd would b as quick as a 300bhp 4wd after 60mph and there 2 hevy. woldnt even attempt converting a 2wd chassis 2 a 4wd u would need new floorpan the whole back suspension ,transmission ,wiring looms.
**** the 4WD plans! either buy the big V6 model and supercharge it...or start looking at fancy diff's!
quaife are the guys to speak to...they do so many different options for lsd's and locking diff's etc - everything you would need1
and as its the same motor that in the tt...it can easily be tuned to over 400 brake with a bigger turbo, pistons/rods etc
