Why does my amp keep feggin up?

Got sony xplode amp powerin just a sub, other week it stopped workin we tried loads n cudnt get it goin, had another play the other day all i did was touch the earth and positive together, an orange light came on next to the word 'offset' then it went off agen and all of a sudden it worked lol! Now its stopped agen :( Any ideas? I know the earths fine cuz it flickers when its a bad earth but its constant light, also we tried the amp on sum 6x9's aswell to make sure it wasnt the sub thats the problem and still nothin?

Jus wondered if any1 else has encountered the same or any suggestions?

well if the touching the earth and power lead togetha work do it again?? if not there might be a break in the power cable??
